Minister: Russia to resume air flights to Egypt soon
MOSCOW, Mar 16 (PRIME) -- Russia will resume air flights to Egypt soon, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters on Wednesday.
“At present, the authorities are completing the adjustment of a corresponding memorandum of intent between our Transport Ministry and the Egyptian Civil Aviation Agency,” he said.
“We have agreed that measures will be taken to speed up this process maximally, because we are interested in maintaining the touristic destination, which likely was the most popular for Russians. I think that it will not require too much time.”
Moscow ceased flights to Egypt in November 2015 after a major Russian plane crash over the Sinai Peninsula. Russia believes that the plane was likely brought down by a bomb.
